GOVERNMENT
The City of St. Peters has a Mayor and eight Aldermen who each serve four-year terms. The City of St. Peters as a whole elects the Mayor. Aldermen seats are decided in each of four political wards. Those ward’s voters select two Aldermen to represent them. The Mayor chairs Board of Aldermen meetings. The Board of Aldermen enacts legislation, and the Mayor votes on bills in the case of a tie. A full-time, professional City Administrator works with the direction of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the City of St. Peters’ professional staff.
